Disassociated State's Therapy

Many of the psychotherapies of today are 'parts' therapies.  They use artificial, temporary, separation into identified parts or characteristics as essential to the curative process of growth.  Most of the models for these therapies claim to be better that the others.  In fact, they are all formally similar and can be skillfully integrated into each other.  The DST training program will show you the appropriate applications of several of the best DST's and teach you how to build new therapies that fit your client.  All the DST's have value, but the question is when, with who, and how each is used.  Learn these skills and models during the DST Training.   This program will show you how to make what you already do more powerful and add a large number of new techniques and strategies as well. The course has two main stages of learning process: DST Practitioner (3 modules) and DST Master (3 modules). Each module is a 6-day intensive program.

1- The Model

First DST model will be discussed in depth.  The 5 steps will be learned and specific strategies for evaluation and movement through each phase of the DST growth process will be discussed and demonstrated.  You will practice the building of the DST model skills and practice observation and organization of clients’ mental and behavioral patterns around their natural splits and internal conflicts

2- Finding & Sorting

Finding strong conflicting or sabotaging parts are not as simple as expected.  Often 2 parts are chosen as obviously in conflict, when in fact, commonly, there are three or four parts in conflict and the key conflict is often hidden.  Learn how to find these often hidden clues to the proper identification of primary and secondary conflicts.  Sorting is the skill that is most often left to each therapist’s intuition, and yet it is an essential skill if your therapeutic interventions are going to have any lasting effect on your clients.

3- Contact & Contract

This is the step of DST in which all the unfinished business between conflicting parts is completed.  The anger and pain around old events, the myths of vengeance, the blocks and stored emotions of many years are accessed and released.  How to trigger and control these events are skills that require art, mysticism, flexibility, sometimes courage, and always great skill.  During this step of DST, the emotions often run high and your ability to direct this kind of energy in healthy processes is very important.

The contract phase is often left out of contemporary DST models and is the step that is most often needed to produce long-term success.  We will practice how to assist each other in making agreement and building strategies between parts, after the contact phase is completely finished.  We will discuss what the common needs of 'clean' parts are and how these needs can be the driving force for the compromises that are sometimes necessary between parts.

We will discuss parts homeostasis and how to make sure that all parts are included in the contacting phase of DST, not just the primary conflicting parts.  Contracting is the time when all future working agreement are made by all conflicting parts and strategies are also made about how to ask for help when new strategies might not be relevant and additional new strategies are needed.

DST (Integration)

Integration is an art form of its own.  We will learn how to produce multi-rep system, con/uncon, all parts, celebrations.  We will identify the mythology and magic of powerful psychological events from many different times and cultures and decide what these past traditions can teach us about the power and magic of the integrative celebration.  You will learn to create celebrations that fit the client’s beliefs and patterns.  You will learn how to test the work that has gone before and if necessary finish small pieces that were left behind.  You will also learn how to use the strategies of integrative celebrations as a major teaching tool for your clients as part of their celebration, especially where major beliefs and logical levels have been involved in the DST process.

DST (Future Pacing)

The ideas and strategies of future pacing will be discussed, demonstrated, and practiced.  Future pacing is relatively simple but very important to the completion of the DST process.  All parts of the DST model will be discussed and practiced.  Any areas that need further clarification or practice will be accomplished.

All people are able to develop personal efficiency. All of us can use our inner conscious and unconscious resources exceeding the limits imaginable. Each person has natural curing energy we can discover and practice. Therapists do not create a perfect state for their clients; they learn to interact with person’s abilities. Interacting with world model of our client, we create most comfortable inner and external conditions using the client’s self-regulating and restoring forces.
